May 2 Making a City in the 21st Century
Talk: Paul Goldberger: Reno and the Challenge of
Making a City in the Twenty-first Century
Friday, May 2 / 6 pm (ticketed reception to follow lecture)
Do we believe enough in the ability of design to make cities better? Or do we believe too much in it? Paul Goldberger has been the architecture critic at The New Yorker since 1997, following a 25 year career at the New York Times, where he won a Pulitzer Prize. He will speak about what architecture can and cannot do to make cities livable and meaningful in an age when so many forces push us apart, and technology threatens to make cities obsolete.
Afterwards, continue the conversation with Mr. Goldberger at a private reception hosted in the Founders’ Room. Appetizers and specialty wines will be served.
Lecture: $18 / $15 NMA members / $10 students. Lecture + reception: $40 / $35 NMA members / $20 students with reception. Purchase tickets online at www.nevadaart.org/tickets or at the NMA admissions desk.
